I had never noticed the Cherry barb earlier.

I bought 5 Cherry barbs in a shop called "Akvariehulen" in Frederikshavn. They had a "capture-the-fish-yourself" tank, where all fish costed 4 DKK a piece or 35 DKK for 10 fish, by the way an excellent idea, especially for the younger aquarists.

I tried to breed them, but gave up because they spend all the time in opposite corners of the tank. Later I moved some Danio rerios to the tank and they spawned immidiatly, so I moved the parents away again and waited for the eggs to hatch. After a while I was much surprised as there was two young Cherry barbs among the Zebras. I can only guess that the eggs remained in the Java moss and miracously survived the grown zebras. I don't have the cherry barb anymore, but it is one of those fish that I want to try breeding again sometime in the future.
